What is NSF Certification?
NSF
has a successful 60-year history of providing quality certification programs
for food, water and consumer goods. In response to growing public concern over the
contents and safety of nutritional supplements, NSF has developed quality
certification programs for dietary supplements. NSF now offers the nation's
first truly independent testing standard and product certification program
strictly for dietary supplements.
NSF
is the only independent, not-for-profit testing organization offering true
product testing of dietary supplements. NSF does not simply evaluate test data
submitted by manufacturers or analyze just a single sample of a product and
give it approval. They conduct product testing in their own accredited
laboratories to ensure that the actual contents of the supplement product match
those printed on the label.
There
are three main components of the NSF Dietary Supplements Certification Program:
- Verification that the contents of the supplement actually match what is printed on the label.
- Assurance there are no ingredients present in the supplement that are not openly disclosed on the label.
- Assurance there are no unacceptable levels of contaminants present in the
supplement.
If
you use a dietary supplement that has been certified by NSF, you can be
confident that the contents of your supplement are being regularly checked by
one of the most respected certifiers in the world. With NSF certification, you

provide. Unlike some other programs, NSF conducts annual audits and
